Captain Fraud Does It Again

Boy, have I missed a lot. I go away, get caught up with work and a hell of a lot of things have changed.

I recently visited the so called comic book store and discover that it had shrunk. Next door is some wrestling school called CJA or something, does anyone know if he owns that too? I don't know if I want this guy teaching my kids or anyone's kids how to wrestle if he does own it.

here's a link to a picture of him: http://www.mycentraljersey.com/article/20091116/BUSINESS/91116032/Comic-book-love-turns-hobby-into-business

Just look at him, all swarmy looking, so shady. He just oozes something scummy, like the crap under an old refrigerator. Does anyone really want this guy lurking around children buying comic books let alone teens and adults?

hilarious quotes:

"As a child, I dreamed of owning my own comic book store,"

"I had a garage filled with books. I've always enjoyed reading them. There's a story line and it continues every week."

"You can get a comic book for next to nothing..." "It's an inexpensive hobby, which makes it a recession-proof business.''

Discount Toys For Sale, Comes With Free Mold

Went to the store yesterday and saw a discount toy shelf. I swear to god, I think I started getting nauseous when I stood in the discount area. I think those toys CJ Comics has on display right have some sort of mold on them. They look like they took them out of the dumpster. Someone should call the health department on them.

The Return of the Back Issues and Magic Cards?

Did you see the sign on the door? No, it wasn't the "Going Out of Business" sign we were all hoping for. The sign said "WE HAVE MAGIC CARDS" What does that mean exactly? I didn't realize Magic Cards were in such high demand these days from comic stores that you needed a sign to advertise that you had them in stock. Anyway, CJ Comics has Magic Cards in stock now... or do they?

Do you remember that bookshelf filled with binders that comprised of Magic Cards? Sleeves and sleeves filled with magic cards, and that's just what they have. Oh, and they also have a basket filled with magic cards which looks like to be a pile commons and lands. This is their Magic Card stock. This is what that nice little sign is so proudly telling customers, they have Magic Cards.

Magic Cards wasn't the only new edition, there were back issue boxes in the back. What threw me off was that a lot of them were boarded and bagged unlike MC which had them in bags only. Finally, the back issues that we were promised from Captain Jackass. Funny thing though, as I looked through the boxes I started to see a pattern. They weren't really back issues. Many of the books were books from 6 months ago, sometimes even less. But the funniest thing about the back issues was this, they looked like the same books from MC's back issue supply. I even think some of those books were books that I've sold to MC, in fact I'm sure of it.

That's about it, nothing really new and exciting than that. Place still looks like a dump, their toy selection is worse than sub par, it's like looking it a child's toy box of toys bought at the gas station or local drugstore.

hmmm, I wonder if they'll buy my Malibu an 90s Liefeld Image books. I'll tell them they're from the Silver Age.

A Green What?

-Someone was asked by the blonde leatherfaced lady, "Who's your favorite Green Avenger?"
Seriously, you can't make this shit up.

-Also, did anyone notice that they have a sale, THE SAME SALE, almost every week?

-They still can't get their orders straight. Anyone else notice two major books missing from last week? I'll give you a hint, one has the word GREEN in the title and the other is currently an AVENGER... and no, it's not the awesome book Green Avengers

"What's it to you who owns a comic book store or how they run it?"

MC Comics could have been saved but the Capt in his infinite wisdom decided to take over out of greed. The story goes that the original owner was going to take over. The guy that took the store from a little shack to the almost half a million business that it became. That's "what it is" to me.
I want CJ COmics to fail. I want others to know that Capt's full of shit and lies. We lost a very good store and now we're left with a half-assed store run by people that are only in it for the money and nothing more.

You've Just Been Served

Hey guys, nice weather we had yesterday. So nice that the Capt and his male friend whom I could only assume was his life partner went to the parks and hit the streets of Milltown and started handing out fliers. Fliers for what you ask? Well, it looks like they're trying to steal customers from Main Street Comics in Milltown by offering 40% off purchases if you switch over to CJ Comics. The story gets better.

I was informed that the police got involved. I'm not sure if the Capt and his male partner were detained, what I do know is that they were reprimanded for handing out those leaflets. Apparently the good ole' Capt doesn't understand rules (big surprise) since it's a big no-no handing out unsolicited material on the streets of Milltown.

It's amazing that this goofball thinks that Main Street "stole" his customers. They... WE were never his customers to begin with. We go where we want, we shop where we want. When he obtained MC Comics, illegally I might add, he did not obtain me or any other customers along with the store. You have to earn our patronage, but how can a person shop at a store when you can't trust the owner? How can you shop at a store when the staff shovels bullshit at your feet? You don't, you take your money elsewhere.

Uh, What Happened to Asian Dude?

Went in today and that big Asian fellow wasn't there, did they fire him? The only person I saw was that ugly used up crack whore lady.

Found out some new info. Looks like the bank that the previous owner borrowed money from actually owns what ever was left of MC Comics and is looking to claim it back. Is it a coincidence that CJ Comics took away the back issues bins? I think not.

Look at this logo

Look at how stupid this logo is. For a guy that has money you would think he would at least try to make a visually appealing logo.

CJ Comics operating illegally?

Just found out from the rumor hotline that CJ Comics has been operating illegally since April 2nd 2009. Apparently the good old Captain John was served cease and desist papers from the bank that technically owns the the merchandise of MC Comics. CJ Comics has aqcuired the stock and the store illegally and should not be open and operating in any way.
Captain John not only shovels bullshit he's a criminal too.

Why does he keep telling me he "got all this new stuff" on Weds?

Every single time I go in there it's the same stupid greeting, "Oh hey guys, you're just in time. We got a lot of new stuff this week"
Really? Did you really? WTF kinda moron do you think I am? I know you have new comics today, it's freakin new comic books Wednesday you imbecile, why do you insist on trying to shovel your bullshit my way? And why does that ugly blonde crack whore have to open up here mouth, hasn't she done enough of that in her life?
Also, no back issues still. They keep repeating something about some fictional store in Pennsylvania.

Do you like back issues?

I like back issues, I assume most comic book collectors like them too. How else would anyone complete their collection of Doom Patrol? Unfortunately CJ Comics no longer carries a back issue section. Sure they have the last few weeks, maybe even previous months of comics, but no longer do they have back issues.
What does this mean? Where did they go? Why exactly would a comic store get rid of their back issues?
I have my theories, what are yours?

The conspiracy continues...

Closed on Mondays

Went to visit CJ Comics today and found out that they're closed on Monday. Is this a sign of things to come? I hope so.

$10,000 OF NEW PRODUCT AND OTHER LIES

1) CJ Comics owner John "Captain John" Paitakis claims that the store is affiliated with a comics store also called the same name that's located in Toms River NJ. Does this store exist? Look it up, google it. Try the comic book store locator. You'll never find it because there is no such store

2) The first day of operations the owner kept on telling my friend and I that there would be $10,000 worth of new product coming in. Do you any store that isn't Midtown Comics that orders $10,000 worth of product?

3) For 4 weeks the store was rumored to be operating without a Diamond account and had been getting their comics from another store. This would explain why the store had such a small selection of comic books for sale.... what about that $10,000 worth of product Capt, where's it at matey?

4) Captain John claims he bought out a store based in Pennsylvania and will be bringing their stock to the store... still waiting on that one

April 1, 2009: The Last Day of MC Comics

The last day of MC Comics was bittersweet. Almost all the customers and friends from past and present visited to say goodbye. This will be the last time anyone would enjoy shopping at the store. When I came to visit I saw a lot of smiling faces and emptying shelves. They must have made some bank, too bad it was too little too late.
